Prototype classification:

According to the production process, the prototype can be divided into handmade prototype and CNC prototype.

(1) Handmade prototypes: the main workload is done by hand, and currently it is mainly concentrated in occasions such as toy dolls that do not require high dimensional accuracy but strong artistry.

(2) CNC prototype: the main workload is completed by CNC machine tools, and according to the different equipment used, it can be divided into laser rapid prototyping (RP, Rapid Prototyping) prototype and machining center (CNC) prototype.

A: RP prototype: mainly prototype produced by laser rapid prototyping technology

B: CNC prototype: mainly the prototype produced by the machining center.

Compared with CNC prototypes, RP prototypes have their own advantages and disadvantages:

The advantages of RP prototypes are mainly manifested in its rapidity and complex curved surfaces (such as inverted slope surfaces). It is mainly formed by stacking technology, so RP prototypes are generally relatively rough, and the product There are certain requirements for the wall thickness, for example, if the wall thickness is too thin, it cannot be produced. The advantage of CNC prototype is that it can accurately reflect the information expressed in the drawings, and the surface quality of CNC is high, especially after the surface spraying and silk screen printing are completed, it is even more radiant than the products produced after the mold is opened. Therefore, CNC prototype manufacturing has increasingly become the mainstream of prototype manufacturing.
