WHAT IS CNC MACHINING?

Computer numerical control machining (CNC) is a process that uses numerical controllers in which a computer is designed to operate the device. This programmable machinery controls various behaviors within a machine-like speed, feed rate, and coordination. CNC machine technology provides a way of pre-programming and running the speed and positions of the machine tools in recurring, predictable cycles, all with minimal human interaction during production. In a custom CNC machining process, a technical drawing is developed and translated to computer code via computer-aided design, or CAD. This process is then executed by the CNC equipment system, which produces both parts and bulk material.

These CNC manufacturing processes can be used with various substances, such as metal materials, stainless steel, and plastics. The pre-programmed software we use in our CNC machine shop operates with strict guidelines and state-of-the-art equipment to ensure that our service cost effectively maintains high-quality control while significantly reducing production time.

TYPES OF CNC MACHINING OPERATIONS

We offer both CNC milling and turning capabilities. While milling and turning are similar in that they both feature a subtractive manufacturing method, their specific machining processes are slightly different. Both processes result in durable, high-quality machined parts.

CUSTOM CNC MILLING

CNC milling is a machining process that uses cutting tools to remove parts of the workpiece through the programmed CAD file and technical drawings to achieve the desired final product. Sophisticated CNC mills are complex machinery that allows the cutting tool to move in five directions simultaneously. Primary CNC mills are slightly more limited, rotating their cutting tools along three axes: left to right, front to back, and up to down.

CUSTOM CNC TURNING

Besides CNC mills, CNC turning is another machining process in which the workpiece rotates while the cutting tool remains in place. During the turning operation, the cutting tools remove pieces of the material while rotating to give the workpiece its desired shape and create the specific CNC parts.
